Growing potatoes is often the novice VegGrower's first foray into growing their own veg and rightly so. The humble potato is a culinary staple and one of our most versatile vegetables. Growing potatoes has never been easier either, with a great choice of seed potato varieties, pack sizes and
Potato Planters.
If you're unsure which seed potatoes to grow, consider how best you like your cooked potatoes. Some seed potato varieties are best suited to boiling whilst others are salad potatoes or ideal for baking. We suggest the best uses for each potato variety in the relevant product description.
We offer two different pack sizes for most of the seed potato varieties so you can choose which quantity will best suit your needs. If you're growing in the vegetable patch, open ground or raised vegetable beds you may wish to choose the 2.5kg packs. However, you may wish to grow several different potato varieties in which case the taster packs are ideal. They contain a smaller number of potatoes than the sacks, around 10 tubers per pack. If you are growing potatoes in containers or using potato planters, the taster packs will be best suited to your needs. The average potato planter takes around 3-4 tubers. If you are using a container of your own, make sure it is at least 18" tall.
Even if you grow nothing else (unthinkable, we know), plant some potatoes. Easy to grow and so rewarding. You don't even need a garden, if you're short of space simply plant in a potato planter for the ultimate in fuss-free VegGrowing.
